Hi! We are Kristi, Ivan and Mckenna. We have traveled twice around the world. We started out in 2007 when I met Ivan in Scottsdale, Arizona. I had graduated from ASU, and on a whim decided to apply for grad school at UQ. So we sold everything and moved to Australia within a month of graduating. Prior to starting university in February, we decided to do our first around the world trip. We booked a last minute flight from Brisbane, Australia to Brunei, then to Dubai, UAE, and landed finally in London, UK. We went from London to Paris by train on the Eurostar. Then took a plane to Barcelona, Spain. In Spain we got a bit crazy and booked a last minute transatlantic cruise from Barcelona to Miami, FL (This was literally right after the GFC or Financial Crisis of 2007/08) the tickets were dirt cheap. I kind of wished the travel prices during the Covid pandemic would have gotten that crazy, but seems like people have been so pent up from staying home, that we are all doing the same thing getting out of dodge. Back to finalizing our round the world trip the cruises incredible stops included Madeira (Funchal), Portugal, Tenerife, Canary Islands, Nassau, Bahamas and finally dropped us off at a port in Florida. We decided to take a a drive from here to Miami and then through to the Florida Keys. Florida took us to Las Vegas and then to Arizona to see my family before we drove to Los Angeles and made the 14 hour non-stop flight back to Brisbane to start the first semester of grad school. Travel was always what we craved. We would work 9-5 jobs just to get out of Australia for a few weeks. Fast forward the second around the world trip and this time we had our spunky 5 year old to take. Mckenna absolutely loved Paris. She doesn't remember much now that she is 11 years old. So looks like we need to make a trip back. We ended up getting complacent in our jobs in Australia, and life kind of just caught up with us. Ivan was bored and stale in his job, and I was just getting a new one to try and get out of the monotony. At this time we found ourselves growing far apart, and that changed our world and we ended up divorcing. The divorce was a bit traumatic on us all. We moved back to the US and ended up living our lives quite apart with transfers happening every other weekend. We both dated and carried on. In 2020, came a pandemic that was tragic for the world. We have lost people we cared for deeply and saw friends morn loved ones. Around the world we saw chaos, hate, and sorrow. During this painful and depressing moment in time came our light. However dark the world became, we became light for each other. We made decisions to stop what we were doing, and be awake in the present moment. Walks outside became beautiful again. The sun seemed to shine a little brighter, and coffee in the morning never smelled sweeter. We now live to travel, and will prioritize it for our family. I hope you do as well, it is a great way to get out of your comfort zone and create new experiences, try new things, and never stop learning along the way. Sometimes it's just what you need for everything to fall back in place.
