Pima Air & Space Museum

Updated: Oct 29, 2021

We were headed down to Tucson, Arizona for the day to sight see. Along the way the Davis-Monthan Air Force base caught our eye so we decided to get a bit closer as they have a graveyard of planes. You cannot get on the base, but we continued to drive and we drove right past the Pima Air & Space Museum. Having lived a good amount of time in Phoenix, and never knowing this existed, we stopped.

We were able to catch a glimpse of some of the military aircraft you see in movies like Topgun (Tomcat) and Apocalypse now (Huey Helicopter). The best part of this was the real life equipment and images they have of the men who flew these incredible aircraft.

Headed outside we found one of John F Kennedy's airforce ones. The Douglas VC-118A Liftmaster. This aircraft served as the official Air Force One for Kennedy and Johnson until the Boeing VC-137s were introduced. This plane because it was smaller and not as fast was used for more shorter travel or as back up.

There were so many planes for us to see, and since it was quite warm when we went we will have to get back there to see all of the planes in the museum. If you would like to check out the museum with us click below on our YouTube video, and please subscribe!
