Grand Hyatt- Playa Del Carmen
Updated: Jul 9
We flew into Cancun, and decided to rent a car and drive to Playa Del Carmen. If you get the chance I would recommend going to Playa Del Carmen over Cancun if you can't do both when you are there. I find that Playa Del Carmen has a more boutique and artsy feel than Cancun. We stayed at the Grand Hyatt Resort which is one of the few luxury resorts in the downtown Playa Del Carmen area. We chose the Grand Hyatt as it is a fairly newer resort (built in 2015), and that the resort is less than a block away from 5th Avenue (shops, restaurants, entertainment). The resort has a great infinity pool that overlooks the ocean, and they have entertainment during the afternoons at the pool.

I highly recommend the Cenote Spa here if you are staying. You can get a massage or treatment or use the spa area for $35 USD. The spa has hydrotherapy areas, lap pool, and man made cenote (hot tub area) that is a great way to relax while on your trip.

That night we stayed in at the hotel to grab a bite to eat as a storm was starting to come in. We decided to check out The Grill as they had a wine tasting and art event going on that night. It was really nice that they have different activities posted out by the pool each day for things to check out on the property (great for families). The live music was lively and the artists were painting as we tasted a few wines before we were sat for dinner.
